So What IS a "Kitchen Witch"?

So What IS a "Kitchen Witch"?

Would you believe this is my first time EVER writing a blog post?! True Story! Welcome welcome to the beginning of our library of education and knowledge. I am so excited to start this new creative endeavor with you.

If you don't follow me on social media, HI! I'm Christina (@christinakreitel), one of the founders of Rockee Redd. I absolutely ADORE magick. I grew up in the Harry Potter generation.

When you hear the term "kitchen witch", think Molly Weasley: a woman who creates magick in the mundane.

When you learn the genetics and the science behind food and herbs there is no other way to describe it other than -- MAGICK!

When you hear the word “witch,” you might imagine cauldrons bubbling under a full moon, spellbooks, and cloaked figures whispering incantations. But the truth is, a witch is someone who sees the energy, life, and soul in everything around them. EVEN FOOD!

So, what exactly is a kitchen witch?

The Heart of the Home Is the Hearth (aka the Kitchen)

A kitchen witch is a wise woman (or man, or person) who works their magic in the most everyday, intimate, and powerful place: the kitchen. But this isn’t just about cooking—this is intentional living. It’s about weaving healing, energy, and intuition into the daily rituals of nourishment.

Kitchen witches infuse their food, drinks, and herbal remedies with love, prayer, and purpose. They believe that food is medicine, the home is a sacred space, and that tending to others is the most magickal thing they could do.

This is the kind of person who pours their full presence into stirring a pot of soup, blesses the bread as they knead it with their hands, crafts salves and teas with herbs from their garden (like Natalie and I!), lights candles with intention while prepping meals, and follows the rhythms of the moon and seasons when planning food and rituals.

t’s about remembering that you are the magick—and your home, your kitchen, your body are sacred altars.

Cooking IS ALCHEMY!

It’s working with herbs, spices, and food not just for flavor or function, but for energy and emotion. It’s tuning into your cycle, the season, the moon phase, and making a cup of tea that supports your body and your spirit. Doesn't this make cooking sound so much fun?!

It’s herbalism, nourishment, homemaking, healing, and enchantment—braided together with devotion.

And the best part? You don’t need fancy tools or titles. If you’ve ever made a pot of soup for someone you love when they were sick, stirred your tea clockwise while setting an intention, or sprinkled cinnamon on your coffee for abundance… you’ve already been practicing.

Why the Kitchen Witch Is Rising Again

In a world that’s constantly rushing, outsourcing, and consuming, the kitchen witch reminds us to slow down, reconnect, and return home to ourselves.

She honors the cycles of the Earth, the wisdom of plants, the intuition of the body.
She reclaims the ancient knowing that wellness doesn’t need to be complicated—it just needs to be intentional. She helps us remember that every act of care is sacred. You don’t need a label to begin. You just need presence.

Next time you cook, do it slowly. Light a candle. Say a prayer. Thank the plants. Infuse your food with love. Trust that your energy matters—and that your home is the most magical place of all.

What do you think? You ready to start seeing the magick in your kitchen!?
